Law 34/2002, of 11 July, on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce (LSSICE) regulates the use of cookies and similar technologies, which serve to store and retrieve data from terminal equipment. 

A cookie is a file that is downloaded to the user’s computer when accessing certain web pages. Cookies and similar technologies allow a website, among other things, to store and retrieve information about the browsing habits of the user or their equipment and, depending on the information about the browsing habits of a user or their equipment and, depending on the information they contain and the way in which their equipment is used, they could be used to recognise the user.
